After You Win
Buyers can bid in person, over the phone, or online through our online bidding platform Prime Choice Auctions. All internet sales will be charged a 4% Buyer's Premium. Register for your buyer number at the gate or online for online bidding. When your chosen horse enters the ring, bid confidently. Our staff is here to help first-time buyers navigate the process and ensure everyone feels excited and heard during the live excitement! The day of the sale we will also be offering a buyer's seminar for a door fee. We are here to assist you throughout the day! Auctioneers, Sellers, and FS Select Sale will call out any findings of said horse in the ring.
Congratulations! After the gavel falls, proceed to the sale office to finalize payment and documentation. We provide assistance for transport arrangements to ensure your horse gets home safely, beginning your new journey together. If you are traveling out of state your horse will need a health certificate if they did not come from out of state to begin with. Horse care is your responsibility once your bid is final. Please let any of our staff know if you need assistance.

Before the Sale
Preparation is key. Review the catalog early, watch horse preview videos, and contact sellers. Watch for videos and posts regarding horses over the next several months. Do your research. Book your lodging in advance if you plan to stay on-site. Follow our Free Spirit Equestrian Platforms for more information leading up to sale day. If you are a serious buyer sign up for our buyer's concierge program below. On sale day have your finances arranged and come prepared if you plan to purchase. Read our buyer's conditions carefully well in advance. Our team will also be there to assist and answer questions during the preview and before the sale. We also encourage you to reach out to sellers, meet/try horses, and schedule PPE's before the sale in addition to the day of.

Buyer FAQ
How do I register to bid?
Registration is simple! You can register in person at the sale office, over the phone, or online through Prime Choice Auctions. You'll just need to provide basic contact info and set up your buyer account.
How does online bidding work?
Online bids are placed in real-time alongside the live auction. Once logged in, you can place bids with a single click. We recommend testing your connection before the sale starts. All internet sales will be charged a 4% Buyer's Premium.
What are the payment terms?
Payment is due in full at the close of the sale. We accept cash, checks, cashier's checks, and major credit cards (subject to a small processing fee).
Are vet checks available?
Yes, we have a vet doing exams on-site the day before the sale, and the vet will also be present sale day for any concerns. Buyers are also welcome to schedule private inspections at their own expense prior to sale day. Any findings will be called out and disclosed in the ring on sale day.
How do I pick up my horse?
Horses can be picked up immediately after sale and payment. We can assist with local transport referrals and have loading areas available. Please ensure you have a copy of your paid invoice for clear release.
How are Buyers screened?
While we can’t personally vet every potential buyer or make guarantees about a buyer’s future ownership, creating the best possible connections for these horses is incredibly important to us. That’s actually a big part of why we’re putting so much emphasis on transparency, education, meeting the horses and consignors, and giving buyers the opportunity to really get to know the horse before sale day. We want to create an environment that attracts serious, responsible horse people who are genuinely looking for the right match, not simply just the highest bid. Ultimately, once a horse is sold, the buyer becomes responsible for that horse, but everything leading up to the sale is being designed to encourage thoughtful, appropriate matches.
Who is responsible for care of equine after purchase and shipping?
Once the horse sells, buyers are in charge of shipping, insurance, and after care. Sellers are encouraged to talk with buyers and help as well. If any arrangements need to be made for shipping or care for the equine, FS Select Sale management will assist.
What will the price range of these horses be?
Prices will vary depending on each horse’s age, training, pedigree and show record. Most horses are expected to fall in a five-figure range, with a few exceptional individuals potentially selling higher anywhere from 10-100k. We cannot predict prices as this will be the first sale, and the market can always change. These will be seasoned, vetted, higher end horses so we do not predict quality horses running for lower prices.
What type of horses will be at the sale?
You’ll find a curated group of well-started, good-minded horses suited for a variety of riders. Expect quality ranch, English, liberty, trail, all-around, and family-type horses with solid foundations, honest representations, and gentle temperaments. Horses will be riding horses only, very small number of riding ponies, no stallions, no pregnant mares, and horses between 4-15 years old. A variety of different breeds, heights, and traits will be selected. This is a very specific, high end riding horse sale. Can Buyers try horses and talk with sellers before the sale or before they go into the sale ring on sale day?
Yes. In fact, we encourage it. Buyers are welcome to visit with sellers, ask questions, and watch horses being handled or ridden before the sale. On sale day, you may also speak with sellers and, when appropriate and safe, arrange to try a horse before it goes into the ring. All rides and handling must be coordinated directly with the seller and follow sale-day safety guidelines. WE DO NOT allow people to come and ride just for fun. Buyers will be asked to dismount the horse or leave the sale if they are acting unsafely around the sale horses or causing disruption.
